Daily vinyl Care

Always refer to the manufacturer’s maintenance procedures to ensure proper care of your flooring. Spills happen. You can visit the Shaw Floor Care Center for details on how to clean it up, maintain it and keep it looking its best.

Vinyl floors are waterproof, and thus, they offer simple maintenance for homeowners.

Sweep your vinyl floors with a broom to keep them looking great! Daily sweeping will help to ensure your floors always look their best. When dirt and debris are left unattended, they can scratch your vinyl and lead to premature aging. How often you need to sweep will depend on the traffic. But you should plan on doing so every couple of days.

Area rugs can help to preserve your vinyl floors. Entry mats can also prove helpful in limiting the amount of outside dirt that enters your home.

You may also use a damp mop to clean your vinyl floors but do not use too much water as it could lead to warping and other damage. Just because flooring is "waterproof" that doesn't mean that it can't be harmed by too much water. When mopping, less is more.

Dirt & Debris

Dirt and debris should be swept up with a broom to avoid long-term damage and grunginess. How often you sweep depends on the traffic the vinyl receives, but you should do so immediately following any solid messes. Otherwise, sweeping every few days should keep your vinyl looking its best.

Vinyl Spills | Battle Creek Tile & Mosaic

Spills & Stains

Vinyl is waterproof and thus is more than able to take on most liquid spills and messes. The caveat is that you should never let a liquid mess sit on your vinyl floors for an extended period. If you do, there is a chance that it could lead to lingering damage to your vinyl or the subflooring beneath.
